TAYLOR, Margaret 1
Events • Marriage. 1 I visited the Aberdeen & North-East Scotland Family History Society with the express purpose of finding out more information on what we then thought was our earliest Anderson ancestor, namely William Anderson of Aberdeen. My first approach was to search the Society records for the 5 children whose birth dates had been listed in a family Bible handed down from a descendant, William Anderson of Griquatown, as we now refer to him. Of the five children, 3 were identified in the records for the parish of Newhills by the closeness of the stated baptismal dates after the afore-mentioned birth dates, but in addition they were all cited by the same father, George, and the name Wagley, it being assumed that the latter was the name of the local village within the parish of Newhills. However, one of the 3 records recorded Margaret Taylor, as the spouse, and the child found was also named Margaret, and was the first named child in the Bible record. So this finding is the first evidence, not only of the correct name of the father but also of the mother. • Burial, May 16, 1756, Old Machar, Aberdeenshire Parish Record. Record found as per her husband George Anderson in Old Machar record, abode Newhills Parish adding further evidence as to the marriage to George Andesron. • Alternate Birth date.: Birth and Death Rates uncertain. Birth and Death Rates uncertain Margaret married George ANDERSON, son of George ANDERSON and Joan DAVIDSON, on an unknown date in Scotland. (George ANDERSON was born on Feb 20, 1698 in Wagley, NewhillsParish, Scotland 1, christened on Feb 20, 1698 in Old Machar, Aberdeen, Scotland, died on Apr 25, 1766 in Scotland and was buried on Apr 25, 1766 in Old Machar, Aberdeenshire Parish Record.) |
