General Notes: Henry was a teacher at Zuurbraak. 1 Events • Historical, 1856. 5 After helping in Zuurbraak for many years, Henry moved to Heidelberg aged 40 in 1856. He bought a plot, and built a home and a shop, and began to hold services under a shady thorntree. By 1859 a small church had been erected, but as he was not yet ordained his brother Daniel came from Zuurbraak to give the sacrament. Thus was founded the Independent Church of Heidelberg (Cape). Henry was ordained after Henry had died. Henry married Hester Magdalena Catharina VAN ZYL, daughter of Willem Frederik VAN ZYL and Sara Susanna JOUBERT, on Jun 7, 1841 in Zuurbraak, Cape Colony, Southern Africa.1 (Hester Magdalena Catharina VAN ZYL was born on Feb 9, 1818 in Kenis? Road, Swellendam, Western Cape Southern Africa 1 and died on Sep 27, 1850 in Zuurbraak, Cape Colony, Southern Africa 2.) Henry next married Anna Susanna VAN NIEKERK on Nov 15, 1852 in Swellendam, Cape Colony, Southern Africa.2 (Anna Susanna VAN NIEKERK was born on Jul 30, 1827 in Swellendam, Cape Colony, Southern Africa 2 and died on Nov 19, 1895 in Heidelberg, Cape Colony, Southern Africa 2.) |
