• Historical: Family History Society, Sep 14, 2009, Aberdeen Scotland. ¹ During a visit to the Aberdeen & North-East Scotland Family History Society in June 2006, I researched records of Births, Marriages and Deaths for links to my then known William Anderson b, Abt 1697 in Aberdeen and in the source labelled Newhills 226 I found several records of baptisms for names coinciding with known children of William Anderson as recorded in the pocket Bible of his grandson William Anderson of Griquatown (1769-1852). In this case the citation read as follows -

"26 May 1717, George Anderson and Margaret Taylor from Wagley, had a child baptised Margaret. Witnesses were James Jameson and James Head"

This coincides closely with the biblical recorded date of birth of Margaret of 23 May 1717, but in our family tree record, we had assumed that her father was William. However we have since ascertained that the Bible record does not record any name for the father, or mother of the 5 children.However when further records were found for the other siblings it becomes clear that the father was indeed George and not William and a possible reason for the error is advanced herein under his name. Assuming that this is acceptable, Margaret's newly found baptismal date and place are entered herein.
